Money and Finances

Courses here cost significantly less than those offered in other countries such as America, and your money goes further.

Australia has a decimal system, with 100 cents to the dollar. Banks can exchange foreign currency, and are open Monday to Friday. Some also open on Saturday morning. In smaller centres you can use a post office or a newsagent for your banking.

Tipping is not a general custom in Australia (although if you’re working as a waiter you’ll learn to appreciate it).

Australia has a Goods and Services Tax on most purchases, but not on your education, nor on the cost of international airfares.
